Finding a Stance on Nation States Issues

Nation States is getting pretty heavy in the last few days. I wanted to do the whole thing because I often struggle on political debates and finding and expressing a point of view (I’m your classic fence-sitter) and thought this would help me to develop my thoughts. Nation States is really throwing me in the deep end though. Recent issues/debates that have reached my government include:

1. The Death Penalty. Now I generally think I’m against this and was adament in this view after I watched a Kavanagh QC episode in which an American was set up and wrongly executed. However, the Nation States issue isn’t strictly a ‘for’ or ‘against’ argument. It’s more complicated. The death penalty has become part of an election campaign and the people of the Kingdom of Zschwol look like they are supporting it. The issue is whether I, as head of the government, should intervene. The two options I can choose from are as follows: to allow the people to democratically elect a party that will introduce the death penalty or to intervene and get rid of the party, thus not giving the people a voice but saving people from the death penalty. It is not only a question of the death penalty but of democracy. I have pondered over this one for two days now.
2. A Pro-Nazi Party. A party of Nazi sympathisers plan to stage a rally in the city centre expressing their violent and racist views. Should I ban the party or should I follow the view that people have the right to argue whatever political view they want, ‘no matter how hateful, selfish, or stupid it is’. This is so difficult and again I don’t know what to choose.
3. Spiritual Adviser. There are three candidates that I can choose from. The first is a Catholic Archbishop who promises to increase church attendence through a program entitled ‘Reaching God through Guilt’ i.e. the fear factor. The second person wants people to find their spirituality through a cult and the third says he would resign immediately because he thinks ‘God is a big load of hokey’. Although I was determined to find a stance on every issue, I think the best option is to hit the ‘dismiss’ button at the bottom of the page.
